March 27th, 2008 Presentations
1st Presentation, "90 Tips in 90 Minutes" Jon Benavides
This will be a fast paced presentation. Tips will be many and varied. 90 tips, more or less. Q&A at end, if there is time. Intermediate to advanced tips.
2nd Presentation, "Die Design Using SolidWorks" John MacArthur
Description from John:
"Die design begins at the part level with forethought to strip design. I will discuss the process of reverse engineering the part into a blank strip. This process will include creating the various part configurations that comprise the strip layout. I will then discuss the strip layout sub-assembly design, and how assembly equations can aid in the proper editing of part features later. Once the strip is laid out, I will discuss the process of how to create the die and punch steels in relation to the part. I will also discuss the various sub-assembly concepts that comprise the top level assembly of the completed design. Lastly, I will discuss and demo Full Progressive Die Design Simulation through SW and Animations. The presentation’s main point is to show how to design dies in Solidworks, and to discuss the implementation of in context mating in regards to editing the die at a later date."
There will be time for John to answer questions after/during his presentation.
John MacArthur works for Dasi Solutions. He recently won 3rd place in the "Model Mania" contest hosted at SolidWorks World 2008 in San Diego.
Both presentations may be downloaded after the meeting, but you have to attend the meeting to be eligible.
